    FARE THEE WELL

    SESSION 2015-16 

Saturday, 20th February 2016 was an incredible morning hosted & organized by Class XI students who pooled in their best resources to bid farewell for class XII students of SMCS. The day started with excitement & merriment as all the Class XII students dressed up to their glamorous best, the boys looked dashing in their formal suits & the girls who never fail to put on a show, were draped in gorgeous sarees for the occasion. The theme of the valedictory party was “Fare – thee – well”.

The ceremony started with the welcome of Class XII students, followed by a Power Point Presentation which was a fiesta devoted to the years spent together with friends & teachers to reminisce joyous moments.

The function started with sincere prayers to Almighty God. Symbol of knowledge, wisdom & growth, the lamp was lit by the chief Guest Father Rev. John Chiman along with the dignitaries & Class XII students.

Moving on with the festivities, a group of talented students sang their way onto the stage as the audience whooped & clapped. Spark of talent & emotions were very well exhibited, in the cultural program presented by Class XI students. Class XII students also gave a scintillating dance performance & the pulsating music rocked the ambience.

The auditorium was set ablaze with a ramp walk of Grade XII students, judged on the basis of their inmate & acquired knack, personality, confidence, attire & intelligence which added life to the party. Flairs of SMCS in different fields were identified & awarded.

Rudransh Bhattacharya and Dakshi Panwar were adjudged Mr. & Ms. Marian (Co-Scholastic) while Muskkan Dhawan & Akansh Tiwari were declared Ms. & Mr. Intelligent based upon their two years Scholastic performances, Mridul Joshi and Diksha Bhatt were adjudged as Mr. Handsome & Ms. Beautiful while Sahil Garg & Muskan Kaul were tagged for their Best Attires. Samuel T. bagged the Sports Star title & Poushali Dutta was tagged as Miss Melody.

Students of Class XII showed their love & gratitude for teachers & management by offering them cards, flowers & heart touching vocal performances. Few of them also shared their memorable moments spent with their classmates, juniors & faculty.

The teachers wished all the best to the outgoing students for success & accomplishment in all their future endeavors. Sir Principal also expressed his hope that students will continue holding top positions in colleges as well. Blessings & words of wisdom from Father (The Chief Guest) added gem to the wishes for the bright future of the students.
The ceremony ended with a delicious & sumptuous lunch after which the students danced to the tunes of the DJ. Students felt desperate to hold on to the last few precious moments of togetherness in the school.

Educational Trip Visit To Parle G – Biscuit Factory Classes IX to XII

Academic excellence and co-curricular activities provide students with an opportunity to explore new areas, which enhance their experiences, talents in their quest for triumph.   With this intention, an educational visit was planned for students of Grade IX to XII on 6th February 2016.   Around 200 students escorted with 12 teachers visited Kohinoor Factory, Parle-G, Sector 63, Noida. The introductory documentary film shown to students told them about the origin of the Brand PARLE, its founder and products about its various products.
The Resource Person Mr. Mahesh explained the working of the plant and also described the functions, benefits of the product and its worldwide fame.   Soon after, the students were taken around the manufacturing plant where they observed various processes like kneading, mixing, shaping, baking, cooling and packing.   The complete unit was automated and internationally designed keeping in mind the strict hygiene standards.   Students interacted with the staff to quench their innate curiosity.
The students enjoyed complimentary gifts (biscuits and toffees) and participated in a Question Answer Round & MCQ Quiz upon their return to school.
All in all the students enjoyed an aromatic mouth watering day visiting one of the fovourite snack of their childhood.

Republic Day Celebration

67th Republic day was celebrated with great zeal & enthusiasm in SMCS. To commemorate the day when India became republic and when the constitution of India was officially enforced, special assembly was held in SMCS.   The Chief Guest, Sir Principal, Mr. Abhinav Marwah and Mr. Masroor Choudhary unfurled the beloved National Flag and the spark of patriotism was felt in each ray of light showered.   We the Marians are on the leading path of globalizing the nation and localizing the world always ready to secure our present and ensure the future.
Beyond the guiding values of liberty, equality and fraternity the Marians on their level represented the values of firm determination and dedication.   Grouped in 6 houses students marched with the promise to spread Sincerity, Courtesy, Honesty, Hospitality, Generosity and Loyalty across the connected planet.

India traditional touch of cultural heritage was well exhibited by students through lazim.

To emphasize the spirit of nationalism and to renew the thought of the pledge an initiative was taken by SMCS.  

Under certain competitions Marians were given opportunity to express their thoughts.   To explore and understand the importance of constitution; to stand for the rights and to analyse the duties of a citizen.

Reservation of Gender; division of state on the basis of language, and importance of equality, justice and freedom were the topics on which the youth mind of Marians created a warm blend of motion.

The new version of celebrating this Republic Day was really fruitful when it was blessed by the precious words of Sir Principal.

To spread kindness and to leave an impact on at least one person a day, the SMCS fraternity commenced a kindness drive as per CBSE norms on this special occasion.

Christmas Celebration

On 17 December 2015, SMCS has organize Christmas celebration for Grade-Pre Nursery to II. The program started with the ramp walk. The students were very exited while walking on ramp as they were wearing the western attire with special red and white dress code. The choir sang Christmas carols and made the atmosphere completely filled with joy of Christmas. After that there were two group dance performances by Grade Pre. Nursery to II students and Santa came and distributed sweets to the students. At last the celebration ended with cake cutting by the guest of honour. After that kids enjoyed the cake and dance party with their friends and teachers.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT

SMCS always aims at “Creating a Society of motivated citizens committed to conservation, preservation and protection of the environment and striving towards a life in perfect harmony with nature.  To achieve this mission certain essential workshops are conducted for students.  One of those was Disaster Management Workshop held on 19th Nov 2015 for Grade 10 students in the school auditorium.  Sudden intense disasters result in destruction, injury and death, disrupting the normal life as well as the process of development. 

 

Students were informed and guided for Disaster Management which involves prevention, mitigation, preparedness, recovery, etc.
Students performed certain role plays visualizing measures aimed at reducing the impact of a natural or man-made disaster on a nation or community.  Interactive session created awareness and conveyed the message “Don’t be scared but be prepared”.
